The latest happenings at ULS
Back in April, I was poking around an audio production group on Facebook. I came across an incredibly cool, handmade product that I instantly knew I wanted to add to our studio lobby.
With the 2018 remake of the classic St. Petronille Contemporary Choir album now firmly in the rearview mirror, we’ve added some new artwork to the studio hallway to commemorate the project.
Back in May, we added some new artwork to the studio stairwell: a poster-sized reproduction of the metal sign on the door of a 1947 Voice-O-Graph. Today, we’re adding a new piece of oversize artwork inspired by these iconic machines.
Today, we’ve added another piece of artwork inspired by the legendary Voice-O-Graph “automatic recording studio”.
A few years back, we had the pleasure of working with DC-area Norteño band Los Ilegales de Lempira on their album, “Tequila y Bucana.” In addition to recording the album here at ULS, I also did the photography and graphic design for the project. We’ve added a new piece of artwork commemorating their work here at ULS.
Since we started planning this facility in 2010, I have been on a quest to come up with some cool “vintage” artwork to decorate the studio’s stairwell and hallways. Along the way, though, I have found myself really hampered by the fact that until much more recent years, recording studios and recording, generally, were not “consumer facing” products.
Last weekend, I flew to Chicago to join Paul Sirvatka for the release of “the Christmas Album 23 Years in the RE-making,” — A Time Will Come for Singing.
Over the weekend, we held an open house for friends and neighbors. One of our neighbors (and hopefully new friends!) mentioned that a certain rock luminary, Greg Munford, lived in our neighborhood.
A cool bit of audio cleanup that we are very, very proud of…
Working remotely, Paul Sirvatka and I recently finished the final mixes for the special edition re-release of the St. Petronille Contemporary Choir’s 1995 album, A Time Will Come For Singing. Here’s the latest.
