Who Are The People in Your Neighborhood?

Over the weekend, we held an open house for friends and neighbors.  One of our neighbors (and hopefully new friends!) mentioned that a certain rock luminary, Greg Munford, lived in our neighborhood.

Greg’s name may not ring a bell to you, but if you’re even a casual listener of 60’s rock, you’ve likely heard his voice.  It’s Greg’s 17-year old voice you hear on Strawberry Alarm Clock’s 1967 smash Billboard #1 hit, “Incense and Peppermints.”  Greg was in the studio as a “friend of the band” during the recording session for the song.  A couple of members of the group expressed their dislike of the lyrics the song’s writer, John S. Carter, had provided.  At that point, Greg was enlisted to sing lead vocals while the regular members of the band were relegated to backup singers.  Not a bad gig at 17!

Greg’s friend and neighbor, Bill Fahey, visited us over the weekend during our open house.  He knew right away that our studio would interest Greg, and I don’t think he was disappointed!  Bill, Greg and I spent a very fun hour this afternoon talking studios, music, and USC (it turns out that, like Ann and me, Greg is a graduate of USC! Fight on!).

Nice to meet both of you, and we’re glad to have you as neighbors!
