Oh How The Years Go By: Wrapping Up A Time Will Come For Singing

Nearly 18 months after we started, the finish line is in sight.

In the “nothing ever goes as planned” department, it’s been nearly a year since my good friend Paul Sirvatka and I have put in any work on the special edition of the (now) 23 year old album, A Time Will Come For Singing.  But Paul is back this week, and the finish line is in sight.

In my last post on this project (August 2017), we were finishing up a week-long session with Paul and some other guest musicians. The overriding goal of the project is replace the cheesy synthesized sounds from the original 1995 version of A Time Will Come For Singing with real instruments — or, barring that, “modern” samples and virtual instruments that are indistinguishable from the “real thing.”  Realistically, a Christmas album needs to be off to the CD duplicator by late October, if you’re to have any hope of getting them back in time for Christmas.  It became pretty clear after our session last August that we were going to miss the deadline. So we put the project on the shelf till earlier this summer. The good news is that we are getting to the end, and we expect the album to be available this year.
